Planning Your Visit to Mass
Whether you are a long-time parishioner or attending Mass in Norval for the first time, a little planning helps you settle in and take part fully. The Saturday 5:00 PM Mass is an anticipated Mass and fulfils the Sunday obligation, which many families find useful when Sunday mornings are busy with work, sport or travel across Halton Hills.
Arriving and settling in
Try to arrive ten to fifteen minutes early, especially for the Sunday 11:00 AM Mass, which tends to be the fullest of the weekend. Arriving early gives you time to find parking, greet neighbours and spend a quiet moment in prayer before the entrance hymn. If you are bringing young children, sitting near an aisle makes it easier to step out if needed. Children are welcome, and a little noise is part of a living parish.
Holy days, holidays and changes
The regular schedule can change around holy days of obligation, Christmas, the Easter Triduum and statutory holidays. Special Masses may be added and weekday Masses are sometimes cancelled or moved. Before travelling, check the latest parish bulletin, where schedule changes and announcements are normally listed.
Weekday Mass
The 9:00 AM weekday Masses are usually shorter and quieter than weekend liturgies, without a full choir. They suit retirees, parents after the school drop-off and anyone who wants to start the day with prayer. Many people attend once or twice a week rather than daily, which is a good way to build the habit.
Confession, sacraments and special intentions
If you would like to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, request a Mass intention for a loved one, or ask about Baptism or marriage preparation, see the Sacraments page. For anything not covered there, including accessibility needs or questions from visitors, the parish office can help through the Contact page.
