Reading and Using the Bulletin Through the Week

A parish bulletin is more than a list of notices. For many families it is the one place where the rhythm of parish life is gathered in a single view: the liturgical season, the intentions remembered at Mass, the work of volunteers and the needs of neighbours. Taking a few minutes with it after Sunday Mass, or keeping it on the kitchen counter through the week, helps you plan ahead and notice where you might lend a hand.

What you will usually find

• Liturgical notes: the Sunday readings, the season of the Church year and any feast days or holy days of obligation in the coming week.
• Mass intentions: the names of those for whom Masses are offered, living and deceased. Intentions are normally requested through the parish office.
• Sacramental reminders: preparation sessions for baptism, first communion, confirmation and marriage, along with times for confession. Our sacraments page explains the general steps.
• Ministry updates: calls for readers, servers, musicians, hospitality volunteers and outreach helpers.
• Community news: social gatherings, prayer groups and notices from nearby Halton Hills parishes or diocesan offices.

Submitting a notice

Short, clear items work best. Include what is happening, who it is for, where it takes place and who to contact for details. Keep personal contact information to what the organiser is happy to share publicly. Submissions may be shortened for space, and the parish may decline items that are commercial or not connected to parish or community life.

Times can change

Schedules sometimes shift for holidays, weather, clergy availability or special celebrations such as Christmas and the Easter Triduum. Before travelling, especially for weekday Masses or events, it is worth confirming the latest details on the Mass times page or by reaching the parish office through the contact page.

Finally, the bulletin is a good way to welcome newcomers. If you meet someone new at Mass, passing along a copy is a simple, friendly introduction to everything happening in the parish.
