Poverty and its corollary, the exclusion, are also a French reality. A reality experienced by millions of French: 5 to 8 million according to the calculation scales to which it refers (is considered poor in France an individual or a household to the standard of living lower than 50 in the median standard of living of the population, while the European body Eurostat encourages the threshold of 60 ). Beyond these discrepancies that remind us that the definition of poverty is indeed a question of standards and a statistical construction, poverty in France does not, in most cases, a deprivation, comparable to what is known of the poorest countries in the world. But millions of children, men and women live on the margins of the standards of the society, deprived of a set of property of first necessity, basic integration, development, dignity, as they relate to health, education, culture, domestic life, clothing.
With this observation, the requirement of solidarity is not a fight that leads on a single front. This is of course a political challenge, which queries the employment, social protection, equality of opportunity... Sensitive news of the revenue of active solidarity, that we approve or that we disagree is this concern. It is also, and more and more, a challenge for society. But need to meet, exceed at least two pitfalls. The first is to consider that there is a sort of inevitable for any society to generate poverty; indifference is never far. The second is to ignore that the world has changed and, at the same time, our duty to imagine new forms, often simple mobilization on behalf of the general interest. Abbé Pierre, and his famous appeal, has been and remains a model in this regard for all those who commit.

Far from clichés and often too easy consensus it generates, sustainable development is, in this regard, a stimulating framework for reflection. Because it places synergistically the various societal concerns and, from this point of view, it is innovative to consider that solidarity and the environment can be a same struggle. "Product sponsorship", in other words collection, large businesses, of their new products out commercial circuits, to distribute to charities involved in the field of solidarity, is precisely within this dual concern. This is certainly a way, but a way that... provides the means to support the great grass which exists in France and that work to support and the poor.
At the time where both families, isolated individuals, disadvantaged children live in a very precarious, it is create a link further solidarity to help the associations to help the poor to regain their dignity, by facilitating access to essential goods: goods health, clothing, educational, fun, household... In addition, emphasizing a model based on the recovery of new products most often destined for destruction, the "donation in kind" place sustainable development and ecological responsibility at the heart of the concerns of all the partners of this action. Fight against waste and control of energy costs induced by the destruction of thousands of tonnes of goods, it is a message to appeal to the generosity of businesses by first appealing to their intelligence.
